Garmin Fenix 8 Press Release

Pushing boundaries — with the Garmin fēnix 8 multisport smartwatch

The ultimate multisport smartwatches come in different sizes, offer either brilliant AMOLED or MIP solar displays, state-of-the-art outdoor, multisport and health functions, speakers and microphone as well as a bright LED flashlight.

For years, the fēnix series has been celebrated for its innovative functions, high-quality materials and striking design, and over the last 10 years it has become the epitome of the multisport watch. Today, Garmin is presenting the latest generation of the multisport smartwatch with the fēnix 8. For the first time, it now has a brilliant AMOLED display, but is also coming to market in a version with the well-known and further improved MIP solar charging lens for an even longer battery life. A wide range of innovations such as advanced strength training functions, diving profiles, internal speaker and microphone, and Garmin Share make it the most powerful fēnix to date — developed for everyone who wants to push their sporting limits.

The 51 mm AMOLED model offers a battery life of up to 29 days in smartwatch mode, while the 51 mm solar model with always-on display lasts up to 48 days.

Highlights and innovations that inspire:

Displays and sizes: You can choose between models with a brilliant AMOLED display or a power-saving MIP display with a solar charging lens. This uses the power of the sun even better than before so the 51 mm fēnix 8 delivers 50% more solar energy than its predecessor1. The AMOLED models are available in three sizes — 43 mm (1.3″), 47 mm (1.4″) or 51 mm (1.4″) — while the MIP variants are available in 47 mm (1.3″) or 51 mm (1.4″).

Robust design: All models have waterproof metal buttons, a new side-mounted sensor protector and have been tested for heat, shock and water resistance according to US military standards. The highest quality materials as well as a titanium or stainless steel bezel and scratch-resistant sapphire or gorilla glass defy even the toughest conditions.

Speaker and microphone: When paired with a smartphone, calls can be made directly from the watch. And even without a phone connection, voice commands such as “Start a strength training session”, “Set a timer for 5 minutes”, “Save waypoint” activate important and frequently used functions.

LED flashlight: The brightness of the flashlight can be controlled quickly and easily via the display. Different intensities, a red light and a strobe mode help you to be better seen in dark environments, e.g. during a training run, when looking for your phone in your backpack, or for orientation in the dormitory at the hut.

Sport-specific training plans: Numerous training plans tailored to different sports, such as trail running, help to specifically improve strength and endurance and reduce the risk of injury.

Diving functions: Supports recreational diving (single gas) and freediving for dives up to 40 meters deep thanks to official diving certification and waterproof, inductive buttons.

Garmin Messenger App: This free communications app lets you send text messages to friends and family directly from your smartwatch.

Premium maps and dynamic round trip routing: Always on the right path thanks to pre-installed topo maps3 for Europe as well as golf and SkiView maps including piste information and cross-country ski trails. Additional maps can be easily downloaded via WiFi. When training or exploring, simply enter the desired target distance and let the watch navigate you there and back in the desired time. If you leave the originally planned route, the route is even automatically recalculated taking into account the target distance to the starting point.

Garmin Share: With this new feature, self-planned routes, workouts and positions can be shared quickly and easily with other compatible Garmin products.
